Reportback from KiDS to the Cadiz Foundation

Cadiz have donated R 250,000 to the KiDS Foundation since June 2004. The first donation of R150,000 was made in June 2004 and was spent as follows (from June 2004 - December 2005):
- R117,600 was spent on school fees for 10 KiDS scholars
- R6220 was spent on extra Maths lessons
- R8210 was spent on transport for scholars to and from school
- R17,970 was spent on home support, uniforms, stationery and textbooks
The second donation of R100,000 was made in March 2006:
- R88,160 was spent on school fees and extra lessons for 9 KiDS scholars
- R11,840 was spent on school camps, uniforms, textbooks, stationery and sports equipment
The Cadiz KiDS supported in 2004 and 2005 were:
- Kenny - Grade 10 Wynberg Boys High School - now in Grade 12
- Thafier - Grade 11 Wynberg Boys High School - matriculated Dec 2005
- Andile - Grade 11 Wynberg Boys High School - matriculated Dec 2005
- Darryl - Grade 7 Chapel St. Primary - now attending a school where his family can afford the fees
- Thandekile - Grade 5 Hillcrest Primary School - now in Grade 7
- Lindiwe - Grade 8 Meridian High School, Tshwane - now in Grade 10
- Sihle - Grade 7 Vanguard Primary School - now in Grade 9 at Sans Souci Girls’ High School
- Nicole - Grade 10 Groote Schuur High School - matriculated Dec 2006
- Amanda - Grade 6 Pinelands Primary School - now in Grade 8 at Pinelands High School
- Tashreeq - Grade 7 Chapel St Primary - now in Grade 9 at Trafalgar High School
The Cadiz KiDS supported in 2006 were:
Kenny - Kenny was in Grade 11 at Wynberg Boys High School in 2006. He worked hard throughout the year and is making the most of his last year at school in 2007. He is a passionate artist and would like to study advertising when he leaves school.
Thandekile - Thandekile was in Grade 6 at Hillcrest Primary School in 2006. He works hard to achieve and enjoys drama and music too. He plays in a marimba band and he also took the lead in a school play in 2006
Nicole - Nicole was in Grade 12 at Groote Schuur High School in 2006. She got good results at the end of matric, passing with merit in some subjects. She is taking a gap year in 2007, working to raise funds to study Business Science in 2008.
Amanda - Amanda was in Grade 7 at Pinelands Primary School in 2006. She is a good academic achiever with a special talent for drama and creative expression. She is now in Grade 8 at Pinelands High (loving it) and she shows great leadership potential. She would “love to make a difference in this huge world of ours.”
Anelani - Anelani was in Grade 6 at Wynberg Boys Junior School in 2006. He is spirited but hard working and has achieved in a variety of sports, particularly in athletics. His favourite subject is Science.
Tashreeq - Tashreeq was in Grade 8 at Trafalgar High School in 2006. He is determined to achieve in Maths, English and Science in Grade 9 and he would love to become an engineer or architect when he leaves school. He is a keen soccer player.
Caroline - Caroline was in Grade 12 at Cape College in 2006. An extremely diligent student, she takes her studies very seriously and is completing matric at Cape College in 2007 - she was unable to do so in 2006 as some of her subjects overlapped. She excelled in most of her subjects and would like to pursue Business Studies in 2008.
Lucia - Lucia was in Grade 8 at Hottentots Holland High School in 2006. She is an academic achiever with great potential (she loves academic challenges) and would like to study physiotherapy when she leaves school. She enjoys athletics and swimming.
Jena - Jena was in Grade 10 at Strand High School in 2006. Jena has a good work ethic and tries her best in all she does. She enjoys singing and dancing, loves caring about others and would like to be a chef and work with underprivileged children one day
