South African Network for Impact Investing (SAII) - www.saiin.co.za

In 2009, the Cadiz Foundation became a founding co-sponsor of the South African Network for Impact Investing (www.saiin.co.za) along with Noah Financial Innovation’s Broking for Good Foundation.

The inaugural conference of SAII, held in October 2009, had as its theme Driving social change through capital investment. The conference laid a foundation on which to build a community of socially-minded investors, individuals and organisations. The workshops hosted a line-up of 20 speakers from a wide range of backgrounds, all within the realm of socially responsible investing. Based on the feedback from both speakers and guests, the outlook for the future of the Network for Impact Investing is very positive – with many participants saying that the network will be a valuable resource for discourse and investment opportunities.

In addition, a number of newsletter stories and media releases were written to raise awareness of socially responsible investment as an alternative funding mechanism for development.
