Selection Criteria

Beyond employee-nominated projects, the Cadiz Foundation does not accept unsolicited applications for funding.

In selecting projects the Cadiz Foundation will only support projects that:

  • can provide evidence that at least 75% of the beneficiaries are black in accordance with the requirements of the BBBEE scorecard
  • can demonstrate sustainability and have a proven track record
  • work in or with disadvantaged communities
  • are able to account for their expenditure and provide acceptable reporting and governance
  • are implemented by registered as Non Profit Organisations (with the Department of Social Development’s NPO Directorate) and registered Public Benefit Organisations (with SARS)
  • can provide receipts that comply with the provisions of Section 18A of the Income Tax Act No. 58 of 1962 (as amended) or any replacement Act or provision as the case may be

The Cadiz Foundation will not normally support projects that are:

  • profit-making organisations and companies
  • individuals in their personal capacity
  • organisations with a sectarian intent
  • political parties or groups with partisan political affiliations
  • labour unions
